Open to Southern Maryland educators, grades k-12.

How do our daily food choices impact the Chesapeake Bay? Through this five-day course, participants will explore the many aspects of food production in Southern Maryland. Focusing on agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries, participants will gain new understandings about the relationship between land use and water quality. Investigations will look at how the choices we make shape our local environment and the health of the Chesapeake Bay, taking our studies from Southern Maryland to CBF's study center on Smith Island. Teachers will use knowledge and experiences gained during this course to integrate environmental literacy into their curriculum through inquiry-based learning.

Length & Location: 5 local investigation days within St. Mary's County.
Cost: $150.
Credit: Maryland teachers are eligible for 3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits from MSDE for successful course completion. MSDE Course Title: Chesapeake Classrooms Field Course; MSDE/CPD Number: 15-66-07
