Open to Anne Arundel County educators grades k-12.

In this course, we will investigate the culture and ecology of the Chesapeake Bay watershed through hands-on, inquiry-based field investigations. Not only will teachers discover educational resources in their local area, but they will also have the unique opportunity to explore historic Smith Island, Maryland. Throughout the course, we will use art as a tool to inform our scientific and cultural studies, as well as develop creative practices to foster environmental literacy in the classroom.

Length & Location: 5 days total; 2 local investigation days, 3 days/2 nights at CBF's Smith Island Environmental Education Center.
Cost: $0 due to grant funding.
Credit: Maryland teachers are eligible for 3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits from MSDE for successful course completion. MSDE Course Title: Chesapeake Classrooms Field Course; MSDE/CPD Number: 15-66-07
