Participants will explore the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay and its fisheries through hands on activities and expert interaction. Participants will have opportunities to fish throughout the watershed and Bay proper to glean a better understanding of fish communities and their health while making connections to the overall ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. Participants will gain a better understanding of the pressure and challenges of various types of fishing and fishery laws that affect both the human communities and aquatic ecosystems. Participants will identify fish and learn about the different habitats in which they live and their connections to the Bay food webs.

Length & Location: 5 days total; 2 local field investigation days within the Virginia Beach area, and 3 days/2 nights at CBF's Fox Island Environmental Education Center.
Cost: $300
Credit: Maryland teachers are eligible for 3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for successful course completion. MSDE Course Title: Chesapeake Classrooms Field Course; MSDE/CPD Number: 15-66-07. Graduate Credit is available from Mary Baldwin University.Registration Coming Soon
