Open to educators teaching in Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

Does where you live influence how you live? Explore the aquatic worlds of the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers, with their intimate link to metro area life. After two days of local investigation, educators will travel from freshwater river to brackish estuary, carefully observing and documenting the relationships between land, human uses, and human impacts. After this immersive five day course, teachers will leave with a deeper understanding of how environmental literacy and geo-inquiry support learning through frameworks such as Common Core, C3, and NGSS.

Length & Location: 5 days total.  2 local investigation days within the Washington, D.C. area and 3 days/2 nights at CBF's Karen Noonan Environmental Education Center.
Cost: $25 resource fee.
Credit: Maryland teachers are eligible for 3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for successful course completion. MSDE Course Title: Chesapeake Classrooms Field Course; MSDE/CPD Number: 15-66-07
