Open to York County teachers and informal educators interested in learning more about storm water runoff and/or building a garden at their school or education facility.
Rain gardens are growing in popularity as an action project that students and community members can participate in to lessen the human impact of development. This course is designed to support educators as they explore the rain garden as a method for reducing their school yard’s environmental footprint. Course participants will visit local sites and hear from experts to explore topics related to storm water run-off; learn about rain garden design, construction, and maintenance; native plant selection, local partnership opportunities and strategies for implementing these topics into your classroom standards.
Length & Location: 3 local investigation days within York County.
Cost: $50 resource fee.
Credit: Pennsylvania teachers are eligible for 50 Act 48 credits for successful course completion
