For most Chesapeake Bay fans, the word "skipjack" brings to mind romantic images of a Bay tradition. For watermen, the word means hard work and a long day of oyster dredging on the Bay. For trip participants on the Stanley Norman, the skipjack experience will involve a little of each!
While aboard, you'll be invited to help hoist the sails or you can simply enjoy the view! You will leave with a better understanding of oysters and their role in keeping the Bay clean as well as what CBF is doing to restore the oyster stocks in order to save the Bay.
Refreshments will not be provided, but you are welcome and encouraged to bring something to eat and drink. Alcohol is permitted for those 21 and older who drink responsibly.
Fee is $40.00 for the general public, $30.00 for CBF members.
Children ages 10 and over are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
INCLEMENT WEATHER AND REFUND POLICY: In the event of light rain, trips will still run. However, should heavy rain, thunderstorms or other severe weather conditions arise, the trip will be cancelled. We will notify you by email and at the phone number you provide if weather will affect your trip. Your registration fee will be refunded if the trip is cancelled. Refunds will not be provided if you are late and miss the boat, however, so please allow plenty of time for travel.
