Amelia County: Our Community - Our Connection to the Watershed

Open to Amelia County educators grades k-12.

In this course, we will focus on the process of developing Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences using field-based investigations and the local environment. We will pay special attention to creating and conducting relevant field investigations and establishing opportunities for civic engagement within the Amelia County region. We will explore cause and effect relationships, specifically focusing on ways we can invest students in their local environment, teach scientific principles, improve water quality, and cultivate environmental literacy.


Length & Location: 5 days total; 2 local investigation days within Amelia County and 3 days/2 nights at CBF's Port Isobel Environmental Education Center.
Cost: no course fee.
Credit: Virginia teachers are eligible for 45 continuing certification credit hours/points for successful course completion.
