A Sense of Place: Developing Environmental Literacy

Open to Independent School educators watershed wide.

Independent school educators across the watershed are using the environment to initiate powerful learning experiences within their communities. This 5-day professional learning experience is an immersion in the fundamentals of local environment-based education. Teachers will participate in meaningful and engaging environmental education experiences that support their curriculum and increase student's environmental literacy.

Length & Location: 5 days total; 2 days/2 nights at Christchurch School in Christchurch, VA and 3 days/2 nights at CBF's Port Isobel Environmental Education Program.
Cost: $50 Through generous support from our members and funders, CBF is able to offer this $1200 per-person course to teachers for the significantly reduced fee of $50 and commitment to complete the final project. 
Credit: Maryland teachers are eligible for 3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for successful course completion.
Virginia teachers are eligible for 45 continuing certification credit hours/points for successful course completion.
Pennsylvania teachers are eligible for 50 Act 48 credits for successful course completion.
Washington, D.C. teachers are eligible for 45 Continuing Education Hours (CEU’s) for successful course completion.
