Come help CBF plant more than 800 trees and shrubs along a tributary to the Jones Falls as part of our Farm Stewardship program. The Jones Falls flows through Baltimore City and into the Patapsco River, ultimately into the Chesapeake Bay. The planting area is currently planted in row crops and will be restored to a forested stream buffer. Approximately 2,500 feet of stream bank will be planted, resulting in four acres of new riparian buffer.
This project will help reduce soil erosion, reduce downstream flooding, and sequester carbon to help with climate change.
This project is part of CBF’s partnership with WGL Energy and Sterling Planet to sequester carbon through restoring forested stream buffers. The Department of Natural Resources and Baltimore County Soil Conservation District provided technical assistance on this project. WGL Energy and Sterling Planet provided funding for the plant material.
