We will meet at CBF's award winning office, the Brock Environmental Center, along the shores of the Lynnhaven River. After a tour through the building to see how green building techniques and materials are used throughout, we will venture out to the Jenny S to explore the surrounding waterways.
While on the boat, CBF's staff will discuss the current state of the Bay and its tributaries and examine what is living in this diverse and dynamic part of the Chesapeake Bay. The captain and crew will use a trawl net to catch organisms to bring onboard for everyone to see and touch. This will be a hands-on learning experience that you won't soon forget.
The Lynnhaven has been steadily improving over the past decade and oysters are a big part of that success, so while on our trip we will discuss how oysters function and what steps are being taken to restore this iconic species to the Lynnhaven River.
The fee to attend is $20 for CBF members, $25 for non-members.
Children ages 10 to 17 are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
