Hopewell Tree Steward Workshop Series

Tuesday, July 23, 2019
5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Appomattox Regional Library
209 E. Cawson St.
Hopewell, VA 23860

This three-part workshop will take place on July 23, 30, and August 6. Workshop participants will become Hopewell Tree Stewards, learning the skills and knowledge to plant and care for the city's trees. Tree Stewards are then prepared to assist and train others who volunteer for tree plantings.

Instructors from the Virginia Department of Forestry, Trees Virginia, and the Virginia State Cooperative Extension Service will share their extensive, real-world knowledge of caring for trees in the urban environment.

Tree Stewards will assist the city arborist with providing long-term care and maintenance for trees planted throughout the City of Hopewell.

Attendance at all three workshops is required to receive the Tree Stewards certificate.

The Tree Stewards Program is part of CBF’s Hopewell Restoration Project, a multi-year collaboration to create additional greenspace for residents to enjoy while cleaning and cooling the air, and reducing flooding and polluted runoff.
